Commerce – The Commerce ISD has named Wes Underwood principal of the newly constructed A. C. Williams Elementary School.
Underwood has been principal of Commerce Middle School for the last two years and prior to that was assistant principal at CMS and Commerce Elementary School.
"The elementary experience Wes received early in his career, his extensive knowledge of technology and his expertise in curriculum made him the clear choice to lead A.C. Williams Elementary School to the next level," Superintendent Blake Cooper said.
"Wes is a proven leader and an energetic and tireless worker with a sincere desire for CISD to be the best it can be," he added.
Underwood's teaching experience began in Sulphur Springs ISD, and then to Wolfe City before joining Commerce ISD.
"I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with the students and faculty at AC Williams. I believe that this is an exciting time for everyone as we are opening a new building that will offer students state of the art technology and great learning experiences. The faculty at ACW is top notch and they will be a pleasure to work with," Underwood said.
Underwood replaces Julia Robinson who is now Director of Curriculum, Special Programs and Grants for the district.
