CISD Superintendent could be stepping down

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – After just over one year of service, Commerce Independent School District Superintendent Mike Roberts could be stepping down from his post.

The District has called a special meeting for Monday evening, which includes a closed door executive session to consider the acceptance of Superintendent Robert's resignation and an exit agreement with Roberts.

Also on the agenda is private consultation with the Board's attorney, to receive legal advice regarding the exit agreement and discussion of a new superintendent search.

Robert's was placed on paid administrative leave two weeks ago, reasoning for which has not been given. Roberts was hired as superintendent in June 2007.

He came to Commerce from Sinton ISD, a district of about 2,000 students near Corpus Christi.
