CISD Superintendent search continues this week

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – The Commerce Independent School District continues to make headway in its search for a new superintendent.

Last week, the Commerce School Board held two days of closed door executive sessions, where a total of four applicants were interviewed.

This week, the Board will interview two more individuals, with the possibility of more interviews to follow before a sole finalist is named.

It is unsure of the number of interviews being conducted and the timeline for completion.

In July, the Commerce School Board accepted the resignation of former superintendent Mike Roberts.

Two weeks later, board members approved the hiring of Arrow Educational Services to conduct a search for a new superintendent.

In the meantime, former Quinlan Superintendent Larry Johnson has been hired to serve at the interim position.
