Citizens encouraged to show support for grant

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – The Commerce ISD is encouraging citizens Thursday night to show their support for a district sidewalk grant.

The grant, if awarded, has a $750,000 maximum which would provide proper school accessibility for students, namely those at A.C. Williams and Commerce Elementary.

The new A.C. Williams Elementary School, located along Culver St., does not currently have any sidewalks in front of it leading to the campus.

The Commerce City Council earlier this month hired a firm from Tyler to develop a plan for the Safe Routes to Schools Program.

Thursday's public comment forum begins at 6:30 p.m. at A.C. Williams.
