City bids farewell to outgoing council members

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – The City of Commerce said goodbye to longtime Council member Billie Biggerstaff Tuesday, as new council members were sworn in.

Biggerstaff was defeated by Douglas Rohrabaugh in this month's election for Council Place 2.

"It's been fun," said Biggerstaff. "I'm not going to be a stranger, I'm going to be here once it gets in your blood and you want to know what's happening and you know what kind of hurdles [council members] have to go through and take care of to get something done, you just want to be here to root them on."

Biggerstaff has been a citizen of Commerce for several years, and was a member of the council on two separate occasions between 1994- 2004 and again from 2006-2010.

Former Councilman Bob Monday, who was also defeated this month by Sue Davis, was not present at Tuesday's meeting. Monday was elected to the Place 4 post in 2008.
