– Monday marks the first day to file for expiring city council and school board positions throughout the region.
In Commerce, Places 1 and 3, currently held by Tony Henry and Richard Hill, are up for election in May. The positions up for election for the Commerce School Board include Places 4 and 5, held by Ted Oats and Willie Blow.
Elsewhere throughout the region, the terms of Dough Roszhart and Hattie Tennison for Greenville City Council Place 3 and 4 are up for election. For the Greenville School Board, the terms of Randy Wineinger, Kim Butcher and Trene Stafford expire in May.
In Sulphur Springs, seats on the council held by Charles Oxford and Kayla Price are up this year as are seats on the school board held by Jack Chubb and Jackie Brice.
Application packets for all area races are available in your local city administration office or school district's central office. The application deadline is March 14.
