City of Greenville receives high recognition

By Scott Harvey

Greenville – The City of Greenville has recently been recognized for its Main Street and financial reporting.

For the ninth year in a row, the city has received the National Main Street status, awarded by the Texas Historical Commission and National Trust for Historic Preservation. Approximately one-fourth of Main Street cities nationwide attain the one-year certification.

The selection criteria focus on planning, staff and volunteers, preservation ethic, training and program assessment.

The city has also been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. The award is based on its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR), and represents the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
