Greenville – The City of Greenville has launched a new, more convenient online payment system for those who receive municipal court citations.
Tickets can now be paid through the city's website anytime. Defendants who are not contesting their violation can pay their fines with a credit or debit card online at www.TrafficPayment.com or by clicking on the Online Bill Pay button on the City of Greenville website at www.ci.greenville.tx.us. Additionally, fines can also be paid via telephone (services are available in English and Spanish) at 1-800-444-1187 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
The process is very easy and takes just a couple of steps. Using the service requires having your citation in hand and completing the required information such as the driver's license number, the citation number, and the amount of the fine. The amount of the fine is listed on the site by clicking a link. If someone is unsure about the amount of their fine, they can call the Greenville Municipal Court at 903-457-3129. The next step requires completing contact information such as address, telephone number and email address in order to receive a receipt and confirmation number. The process takes just a couple of minutes and only four clicks to complete.
The Court is notified as soon as the payment is made. Although the payment is made immediately, it may take 7-10 days to clear a person's bank or credit card account. The Greenville Municipal Court and TrafficPayment.com recommend printing a copy of the receipt and keeping it in on hand to have proof of payment.
The online system is easy, and there is a charge for paying with a credit/debit card online. Smaller fines incur a slightly higher fee of around 9% while tickets around $180 - $225 incur a surcharge just below 7%. Any fines $500 or higher are capped at 5%.
