Clarksville is the defending district champion, but lost a lot of talent to graduation. Only three defensive starters return.
Quadray Moreland will provide leadership in the defensive secondary, and two-way player Germack Woodberry (69 tackles in 2012) will be featured at linebacker in the Blue Tigers’ defensive scheme. Another versatile player is Devon Sanders, who will join Moreland in a defensive backfield that might be called on to stop the big play when the young defensive front can’t hold.
Scoring is less of a concern, with junior quarterback Terrence Tinnell helped by the presence of a solid O-line including seniors Jermaine Emmers and Tyus Savage. Many of Clarksville’s touchdowns should be scored by Woodberry (wide receiver) and Sanders (tailback).
Clarksville’s a perennial power that can’t be counted out of the district title race, but loaded rosters in Cooper and Edgewood will make another first-place finish difficult for the Blue Tigers.
