Close Encounters of the Rock Kind

A local man should know later today whether or not he’s found an object that’s out of this world, or just a rock.

Scott Massay believes he found at least part of the meteorite which crossed the skies of North Texas on the night of February 1st. Massay will be headed to Fort Worth and Texas Christian University today to meet with Rhiannon Mayne, the Assistant Professor of Geology and Curator of the school’s Monning Meteorite Gallery Project.

Massay has already taken the object to the astronomy department of Texas A&M University-Commerce on Monday, and officials there could neither confirm nor deny whether the object was a meteorite, but referred him to the TCU astronomy department.
