Clothing drive to benefit Lamar County students

By Scott Harvey

Paris – The Paris High School National Honor Society is working to collect over 1,000 items of clothing during a back-to-school drive to benefit needy students.

The organization has teamed with Maurices in Mirabeau Square to serve as a drop off site for donations of gently used or new clothing in all sizes.

Additional drop sites include Givens Early Childhood Center, Aikin Elementary School, Justiss Elementary School, Crockett Intermediate School, Calvary Chapel, Calvary United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church, and Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.

Donations will benefit the Salvation Army Thrift Store where families who qualify according to income guide lines of the Federal Poverty Level will receive vouchers for five school outfits for each child.

The clothing drive runs through Labor Day on Monday, September 5.
