CNB celebrates 125 years

It was the perfect day to step back into time. City National Bank celebrated its 125th Anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 19 with an old-fashion street party complete with bank robbery. Citizens crowded Connally Street to join in the celebration.

State Representative Dan Flynn of District 2 presented City National Bank President Ricky Reynolds and Marketing Director John Sellers a Texas flag that was flown over the Texas Capitol on the 125th Anniversary of CNB as well as proclamations honoring the bank’s service to Hopkins, Wood and surrounding counties since 1889 during the celebration held Sunday afternoon outside the Main Branch on 201 Connally Street in Sulphur Springs.

The street party included games for children like panning for gold, stick horse riding, musical chairs; food was provided by Coffee Off the Square, punch served in commemorative mason jars, fresh Dutch oven peach cobbler and ice cream and wagon rides.

However, no vintage celebration would be complete without a bank robbery – staged, of course, by the Texas Pistolaros.
