Come June, NTMWD customers can water twice weekly

DALLAS - Spring rains that have filled Lakes Lavon, Jim Chapman, Tawakoni and Bonham within the North Texas Municipal Water District result in eased restrictions.

The District’s board Thursday voted to reduce limitations to Stage 2, which will allow customers to water twice a week, as opposed to just once. The new rules go into effect June 1.

Individual cities, however, may implement their own rules.

But, district officials are still urging conservation because a fourth of their water usually comes from Lake Texoma, which isn't available because of an outbreak of zebra mussels.

Area member cities include Bonham, Farmersville, Princeton and Royse City. The North Texas Municipal Water District serves a total of 1.6 million daily in the region.
