Commerce – The search for the next Commerce City Manager is making headway. Performing the search is Strategic Government Resources, the search firm hired by the city. It is the same firm hired by Greenville in finding its city manager last year. Nearly 60% of the search is said to be complete. SGR is currently in the process of interacting with about 50 prospects, which they'll narrow down before recommending to the Mayor and Council for interviews.

SGR Chief Executive Officer Ron Holifield says current candidates represent a very diverse mix of people from either East Texas, the Metroplex or out-of-state, with most candidates having held or currently holding posts as city managers. He projects a new City Manager will be named in the next few weeks.
