Commerce closer to adding <BR>ladder fire truck

By Bill Oliver

Commerce, TX –

The city of Commerce and Texas A&M University-Commerce are a step closer to a joint purchase of a 75-foot tall ladder fire truck. The Commerce City Council directed staff during a workshop Tuesday to work on an agreement with Texas A&M University-Commerce towards the joint purchase.

The A&M System will contribute $220,000, or about one-third the cost. The council is thinking about the city paying its share from a possible bond issue.

The truck, the first of its type in Commerce, would get to the top of over 30 buildings on-campus and over 30 buildings off-campus that aren't currently reachable.
