Commerce – The City of Commerce is scheduled tonight to dedicate Field 4 to former coach and longtime resident Gloria Patterson.
Patterson coached girl's softball and basketball, was named an alumni ambassador with Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2005 and was a recipient of the Masters Business Administration Shining Star Award. In addition, Patterson was part of Commerce Leadership Institute in 1995.
She was employed at the University from 1986 until her death in 2006.
Thursday's ceremony begins at 6 p.m. Any girl that Patterson coached over the years is invited to attend and stand long the 1st and 3rd baselines. They need to be there by 5:45 p.m.
