Commerce Emergency Room Unavailable, Go To Greenville

huntregional.org

UPDATE 11:32 a.m - The "facility issue" that closed the Hunt Regional Community Hospital in Commerce is a rodent infestation. They were discovered after a pest control company did a check-up of the facility.

Hunt Regional Healthcare CEO Richard Carter says that there has been no evidence of rodents in the patient care area or the food service area.

There are no health risks to patients and staff at this time.

Officials believe the rodents originated in an abandoned building South of the hospital.

Hunt Regional claims they've tried to work with the city in regards to the building but it still remains a hazard.

Original Story 10/24/12

A 'facility issue' has warranted the relocation of patient services at the Hunt Regional Community Hospital in Commerce. "Emergency room closed as well..."

Susan Spoonemore with Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville called KETR Wednesday afternoon to share that a building problem requires addressing immediately, and that patient care is unavailable for what could be the next seven days.

"This includes the Emergency Room. It should be open soon, but for now, anyone with a medical emergency should go to the Emergency Room at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville on Joe Ramsay Boulevard."

As always, we'll pass along more information as it's released.
