Commerce facilities completion delayed

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – The completion date for construction on the new Commerce City Facilities has been pushed back to November. The Project Manager with general contractor Harrison, Walker, and Harper told the Commerce City Council in regular session this week that the move-in date for the city facilities is now expected to be in mid-to-late November.

Project manager: We're looking at November 15th for City Hall and November 27th for Police and Fire. What that does is allow a little bit of time from when we complete construction to go in there and do our final punch list, our final commissioning feasibilties and ensure that they are absolutely ready for you to move into.

The completion date for the facilities was originally in September.

President and Chief Operating Officer for H.W.H., Christy Wendell, was also in attendance at the council meeting.

WENDELL: My presence here tonight I hope conveys an indication that the slippage of the schedule has escalated in our organization, in terms of time and attention.

The Commerce City Council receives a monthly construction update from Harrison, Walker, and Harper at the first regular council meeting of each month.
