Commerce facilities update

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – Construction comes closer to completion on the new Commerce City Hall and Fire/Police Complex. Parks and Recreation Director Bob Mills has been overseeing progress on the project, and said the move-in date for City Hall is expected to be this spring.

BOB MILLS:It was announced at the Council meeting the other night. We're going to start business here on March 12th. That weekend we will move in.

Move-in for the Fire/Police Complex will likely happen one to two months after City Hall. Construction of the facilities has taken longer than originally expected as well as being over-budget. The latest round of delays have not cost the city much money, however, according to Mills, after the city secured a guaranteed maximum price from contractors in reaction to original cost estimates being higher than expected.
