Commerce – The City of Commerce has a new Fire Chief. Tommy Eaton has been named as head of the Commerce Fire Department. Eaton previously served the City of Richardson for 29 years, with ten years serving as Battalion Chief over three different fire stations. Assistant City Manager Mike Dunn said the hire was difficult with several very good candidates, but one factor weighed heavily in the decision-making process.
DUNN: He had a lot of qualities that suited us. He's going to be able to move to Commerce and live here and he want's to be a part of the community, which was a big....weighed heavily on our decision.
Eaton has been in and out of the Commerce Fire Station already, meeting firemen and talking with the community. He officially takes over the position as Fire Chief July 5th.
