Commerce hires City Manager

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – After a three month search, The City of Commerce has hired its next City Manager. Dion Miller will become only the third City Manager in Commerce in the past 22 years.

The City didn't have to look far in its nationwide search for Miller, who most recently served as City Manager of Mineola, a city of about six thousand residents just an hour southeast of Commerce.

Prior to his time in Mineola, Miller served as the Assistant City Manager in Killeen, and as City Manager in Azle.

He was chosen from a pool of more than 40 candidates, which included finalists from Florida and Michigan.

In a release issued by the City, Miller says he withdrew from being a finalist in an Austin suburb where he was scheduled to interview this weekend because of the incredibly bright future in Commerce.

Dion Miller will begin his duties as City Manager July 14.
