Commerce High School Principal David Welch will resign on May 31, the Commerce Journal reports. Welch is on administrative leave and will remain on leave through the end of his employment, the report said.
Commerce Superintendent of Schools Blake Cooper told the Journal that the agreement was mutual between Welch and the district.
Welch has been principal since early 2013 and had previously served as assistant principal.
Assistant Superintendent Charlie Alderman is the acting principal at the campus, the Journal said. The principal job has been posted and the district expects to begin interviews next month and have the position filled before the 2015-16 school year, the report said.
