Commerce Interim City Manager appointed and search firm hired

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – The city of Commerce has hired a search firm to help find its next City Manager. An agreement was made with Strategic Government Resources Monday during a special city council session. Five search firms in all presented proposals to the council.

SGR is the same firm used by Greenville in its city manager search last spring. Starting next week, SGR Chief Executive Officer Ron Hollifield will be speaking with council members to get input on what they're looking for in a city manager.

The council also Monday appointed an Interim City Manager. Director of Administrative Services Marc Clayton will assume the post effective April 1. City Manager Bill Shipp announced his retirement last month.
