Commerce ISD bond issue passes, <BR> 2 new Commerce City Councilmen elected

Commerce, TX –

Commerce school district voters by a more than 3-1 margin approved a $14 million dollar bond issue to build a new A.C. Williams Elementary School. 489 voted yes, and 140 voted no.

Commerce city voters elected two new members to the Commerce City Council.

In place 1, Tony Henry defeated incumbent Hector Arce and a third challenger, Janice Harrison. Henry had 213 votes, Arce 165, and Harrison 76.

In place 3, Richard Hill will take over for the retiring Penny Belcher. Hill defeated write-in candidate Billy Reed 376-9.

Two other Hunt County school districts approved bond issues Saturday. The margin in Caddo Mills was 327-160 and in Celeste the margin was 275-114.

And from Bonham, one contested city council race saw Wayne Moore defeat Billy Cox for the at-large position 458-90.
