Commerce – The Commerce ISD will meet in special session Tuesday night to discuss a number of items including but not limited to consideration of the proposed tax rate for 2009-2010 school year.
It is unclear of the direction the district may take on the issue.
Last year, Commerce ISD did not raise its tax rate, which is currently $1.04 per $100 of taxable property value. Rather than approach voters about raising taxes, they funded a portion of the then general operations budgets from the district's fund balance (savings account).
Tonight's special session begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Commerce ISD Administration Office, 604 Culver Street.
