Commerce – After several weeks of interviews the Commerce Independent School District has named its lone finalist for the position of superintendent.
In a special meeting Monday night, the Commerce ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to name Blake Cooper as its lone finalist for superintendent.
Cooper has been assistant superintendent at Kaufman ISD since 2006. By law, the district must wait 21 days before formally naming Cooper as its next Superintendent. The Board will consider naming Cooper superintendent at its regular board meeting which has been rescheduled for October 27 at A. C. Williams Elementary School.
Assisting the Board with the search was superintendent search firm Arrow Educational Services, whom the Board hired shortly after the resignation of Mike Roberts. For the past couple of months, the District has been under the direction of Interim Superintendent Larry Johnson.
