Commerce ISD teacher pay increasing

By Kevin Jefferies/Bill Oliver

Commerce, TX –

Commerce school board trustees, during a special meeting certifying last week's election vote to replace A.C. Williams Elementary School, approved a pay increase of just over 8% for beginning teachers, or $2,850. Next year, a first year teacher in the Commerce ISD will earn $35,350.

In other business, the board has not discussed anything concrete for what will become of the present A.C. Williams campus. The design process of the new school will start next month.

And interviews are scheduled this week with candidates for Superintendent of the Commerce schools. 29 applications were received. Trustees still hope to have the new person on the job in mid-July.
