Commerce man under federal indictment

Sulphur Springs, TX –

A Commerce man, 41-year-old Gary Dean Lee, has been indicted by a federal grand jury.

United States Attorney John L. Ratcliffe announced Lee was indicted for possession with the intent to distribute or dispense methamphetamine; possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, possession of a firearm not registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record; and, unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm.

If convicted, Lee faces up to 40 years in federal prison and a fine up to $2 million.

The case is being investigated by the Sulphur Springs Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tracey M. Batson.

No trial date has been announced in the case so far.
