Commerce Mayor Wyman Williams Will Seek Second Term

City of Commerce

Commerce Mayor Wyman Williams has filed to run for a second two-year term in the Saturday, May 5 election.  The mayor says he hopes to continue working with the University to bring improvements to the community.  Wyman also discusses the 45% increase in sales tax revenue in the month of December, which he attributes mainly to the near-sellout playoff football game between A&M-Commerce and Harding University on Dec. 9.  On another topic, the mayor says the Commerce Public Library has now digitized the Commerce Journal archive, and all editions of the newspaper going back 100 years or more are available online.

John Mark Dempsey is the host of the public interest program The Blacklands Café from KETR News. Dempsey is also the play-by-play announcer for Commerce Tigers Football on 88.9 FM and on ketr.org.
