Commerce police join Warrant Roundup

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – The Great Texas Warrant Roundup begins this weekend, and Commerce Police are among the more than 250 jurisdictions that've joined the effort. Officers will be partnering together with other agencies throughout the region to find and arrest those with outstanding warrants pending before their respective municipal courts.

Law enforcement agencies and cities throughout the state conduct roundups at different times throughout the year, focusing on violators with outstanding Class C misdemeanor warrants. Most are traffic-related offenses. Those arrested will be taken before court judges for arraignment and disposition of their cases. Full payment or suitable arrangement for full payment will be due at that time.

Amnesty Program Notices have been mailed to persons with active warrants. This program gives those persons an opportunity to come in and pay for their warrants at a discount on their fine only. They will still be required to pay the court fees. Commerce residents with outstanding city citations are strongly encouraged to appear in person or contact The Commerce Municipal Court in order to avoid the embarrassment of being arrested at home, work or school.

How to clear an outstanding warrant:

- Pay by phone at 903-886-1132 or online at https://commercetx.municipalonlinepayments.com

- Appear at The Commerce Municipal Court located in the City Hall at 1911 Alamo St. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday. You will not be arrested if the warrants are paid in full at the time of your appearance.
