Commerce school administrators moved

COMMERCE - Monday was the first day for Danni Myers as the interim principal at Commerce High School. Myers moved from the curriculum director's job at the central office. The assistant principal at A-C Williams Elementary, Deanna Hays, is now an interim assistant high school principal. Former high school principal Trish King was reassigned to Hays' former position at A-C Williams.

Commerce High currently has three assistant principals, with Kathy Miller and Joe Spinato still on that campus. Staff learned of the changes last Friday, following the school board's decision two weeks ago not to renew the contracts of King, Miller, and Spinato. Their contracts run through the end of the 2007-08 school year.

During a special meeting of the Commerce school board Monday night, trustees returned from one hour and 20 minutes behind closed doors and approved pay raises for Myers and Hays. Myers will receive an additional 70 dollars a day and Hays an additional 27 dollars a day during their interim assignments.

Applications are now being accepted for a new principal at Commerce High School. According to the C-I-S-D website, the start date is June 4th.
