Commerce school board <BR> holds September meeting

By Bill Oliver

Commerce, TX –

The Commerce school board has hired its general contractor for the new A.C. Williams Elementary School. W.B. Kibler Construction of Dallas was chosen. CISD trustees gave Superintendent Mike Roberts authority to finalize the contract, which he said was still being reviewed by attorneys for both the district and the contractor.

The board also unaminously gave Roberts the go-ahead to execute a contract with Paris Junior College allowing Commerce High juniors and seniors the opportunity to take dual credit courses.

CISD administrators said Commerce school enrollment is off 22 from what they anticipated when developing the budget.

And board members shared positive comments about standardized dress they received from the parents of Commerce high and middle school students, along with interest from at least one parent of an elementary student to expand the policy to all grades.
