– Frank Ashley plans on staying on the Commerce ISD Board of Trustees through the May regular meeting. That will overlap with the start of his new job as a vice chancellor with the Texas A&M University System in College Station.
Finishing the second year of his first term, Dr. Ashley has been on a board that has seen lots of action in the last few months. This includes a superintendent's search, a bond issue going before voters next month to replace A.C. Williams Elementary School, and implementing a district-wide standardized dress policy next year.
Once Dr. Ashley leaves, the remaining trustees have the option of holding a special election or appointing an interim member. In either case, that position comes up for election in May of next year.
