Commerce school bond issue coming

By Bill Oliver

Commerce, TX – A special meeting of the C-I-S-D board of trustees Monday night includes a budget study session. Then the board will consider adding to the May election ballot replacing A-C Williams Elementary School. Two weeks ago, consultants to the school board recommended a new building over renovation, not only to meet educational needs but also to take advantage of increased state financing.

Another executive session is scheduled, to discuss pay for administrative staff. This is also the first board meeting since last week's announcement that Superintendent Keith Boles was named the lone finalist for the top position in Connally, near Waco.

The special meeting of the Commerce school board begins at 6:30 p.m. in the district's curriculum and technology center, located behind the Middle School at 606 Culver.
