Commerce Subway to build new drive-thru facility

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – For the second time in the past month, a Commerce business has been approved for plans to build a new facility with drive-thur service.

Subway restaurant on Tuesday acquired a conditional use permit for 2012 Live Oak Street, which is the vacant lot adjacent to McDonalds and the former Sonic location. Last month, Braums was approved for the same permit, with their new drive-thru facility to be located adjacent to Dominos Pizza. Construction on both projects is to begin soon.

Also Tuesday, the Commerce City Council approved a conditional use permit for 1708 Monroe Street, which is on the northeast corner of Monroe and Hunt. It was once the old hospital lot. The two buildings, currently under construction, will serve as multiple-family dwellings and also have commercial/office space.

The applicant, Michael Oglesby, is hoping for a sandwich/salad type business, with a parking lot to be constructed across the street.
