Commerce vs. Throgmorton could be resolved soon

COMMERCE - The Commerce City Council has elected to send two councilmen to a mediation hearing on October 25 concerning the city's lawsuit against Mayor Quay Throgmorton.

After consulting with their attorney's during executive session Tuesday night, council determined they would work to resolve the dispute through a mediator. Richard Hill and John Sands were appointed to attend.

The lawsuit, filed in January, claims Quay and his wife Paige failed to repay the city nearly $50,000 to improvements made to their property in 2005. In a counterclaim filed in late June, the Mayor accused the city of fraud and slander.

Both sides have denied the allegations.
