Commissioners drop Sheriff's bond case

By Kevin Jefferies

Hunt County – Hunt County Commissioners have voted to drop a bond suit against Hunt County Sheriff Don Anderson. The Court and the Sheriff have been involved in the dispute for more than a year, but commissioners felt it would be unwise to spend more money for something they weren't sure they could prove.

The controversy began when over $16,000 was discovered missing from the inmate trust fund . The company that held Anderson's bond eventually agreed to pay the missing fund, but said they would cancel the sheriff's bond. Anderson had a temporary injunction placed on that action.

A March 28th court date was set as part of the legal proceedings but now will likely be cancelled.
