Competition returns to honor decorated Texas musician Ruby Allmond

BONHAM - Entries are sought for the3rd Annual Ruby Allmond Songwriting Contestin Bonham, to be submitted by July 1. The top 10 finalists will be selected to perform live on August 4.

A native of Bailey, Allmond went on to build a reputation as a talented musician, singer and songwriter, many of which were performed by Dottie West, one of country music's most influential singers. The tribute to Allmond provides cash prices to the top three finishers, whose entries are reviewed by a panel of judges. Performers are again analyzed during the live event later this summer, where the winner is crowned.

Contestants are required to fill out an entry form and then submit a CD with no more than two original songs, along with two copies of the lyrics. For an entry form, rules and additional information, please visit www.rubyallmond.com.

KETR’s Matt Meinke, chief announcer and host of Notably Texan, will again serve as master of ceremonies.
