GREENVILLE - The newest figure was announced Tuesday after three more cases were detected. Officials say half of the cases are in the Greenville area and half in Quinlan.
There have been no deaths from the virus in Hunt County.
The Greenville Parks and Recreation Department say they’ve conducted mosquito spraying in a majority of local neighborhoods and are now spraying at individual addresses by request. They can be reached at 903-457-2994.
The Commerce Public Works Department conducted another round of mosquito spraying Tuesday, with more scheduled Wednesday and Thursday night. Elsewhere in Northeast Texas, at least two confirmed cases of the virus have been detected in Lamar County, according to The Paris News.
The latest report from the Texas Division of Emergency Management lists either West Nile virus or the milder West Nile fever in Fannin, Kaufman and Van Zandt counties.
Meanwhile, residents in the Dallas area are preparing for the first aerial spraying of insecticides there since the 1960s, as officials prepare to minimize the risk in the worst outbreak area of West Nile virus in the nation so far this year. 10 deaths have been attributed to the virus.
