COMMERCE - Crews have begun preparations for the installation of a four-inch asphalt with concrete curb and gutter, a storm drainage system, and a six-inch sanitary sewer line along Harlow Road.
This is the first phase of the city’s 3-year project and includes renovations from Creekview Drive to Charity Road, or about half the length of Harlow.
Lee, Bois D Arc and West Neal Streets, which border the Texas A&M University-Commerce campus, as well as parts of Monroe and Washington streets will also receive upgrades.
The $4.8 million project includes $3 million in approved bonds by voters in 2008, another $875,000 from A&M-Commerce and $940,000 in Texas Water Development Board funds.
The Harlow portion, rated the worst road in town by Halff Associates, was bid out to Billy Cummings Construction Company for $610,757.
