Construction progresses on new city facilities for Commerce

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – Commerce residents should see steel going up this week on the New City Hall. The full concrete slab has been poured and allowed to set. With the foundation set, construction will begin on the framework this week. For the new Fire/Police Complex, concrete is expected to be finished pouring this week, with steel work beginning soon.

In last night's Commerce City Council meeting, City Manager Bill Shipp said he will soon ask contractors for a full schedule of construction with clearly identified key phases. This was to better identify when certain stages of construction are complete, and gauge progress.

Completion date for the new facilities in Commerce is set for September.
