Cooper ISD board reviews upcoming events and pay increases

In a regular meeting Monday night Cooper ISD Board of Trustees reviewed the 2013-2014 budget.

Cooper ISD Superintendent Denicia Hohenberger proposed a $600 increase in pay for all CISD teachers, nurses, librarians and counselors for the upcoming budget. The last State pay increase for teachers was in 2006. The auxiliary staff including custodians, cafeteria staff, maintenance and instructional assistants will also receive a modest increase if the budget as presented is approved at the August meeting of the Trustees.

The Board accepted the resignations of Coach Brittney Steed and Coach Russ Campbell. Montana Hearn will be replacing Steed in the junior high science classroom and assisting with girls’ basketball and softball. Blake Sanders will be replacing Campbell in high school history and assisting boys’ football, basketball and baseball.

Current open positions for employment at CISD include maintenance worker for the District, custodian and food service positions for the Elementary campus.

The Faculty Fish Fry sponsored by Enloe State Bank will be at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20 followed by “Meet the Bulldogs” at 6:30 p.m. and the first day of school will be Monday, Aug. 26.

During a Special Called Meeting held on June 25 the Board approved the appointment of Anita Moody to fill the position of former Board member Jake Vaughn.

The Board will meeting the evening of Monday, Aug. 19.
