While the item was tabled, the Cooper City Council spent considerable time discussing ordinances for alcohol sales before issuing permits.

“There are things we need to get clarified to protect the City and to be fair to the individuals. We want to get it right from the start,” said Cooper City Mayor Scotty Stegall.

No attorneys were present for consulting. However TABC Loretta Green offered information on various scenarios the City might be approached with throughout this process.

“We are here to help you,” said Loretta Green, offering a conference call option. The Council was most concerned with the sections describing drive-thrus and signage. Mayor Stegall said he has had three inquiries into alcohol sales permits.

Medical insurance rates for the 13 City employees was discussed and the increase. It boils down to an increase of $22.54 per person per month. The Council approved the TML Multistate IEBP rates as well as the Cobra continuation item.

David Phillips was nominated as Mayor Pro-Tem again. Mayor Stegall was reappointed to the Ark-Tex Council of Governments (necessary step following election).

Delbert Horton was reappointed to the Sulphur River Municipal Water Board for another two year term.
