Texas A&M University-Commerce will get a visit from Dr. Cornel West on Sept. 28. The provocative and prolific philosopher, author, and speaker will be at A&M-Commerce as part of his “Justice Matters” tour on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Ferguson Auditorium. This free event is part of A&M-Commerce’s Sam Rayburn Speaker Series.
West, a professor emeritus at Princeton University who’s also taught at Union Theological Seminary, Yale, Harvard, and the University of Paris, is the author of 20 books, including his landmark Race Matters and Democracy Matters. He’s also widely hailed for his memoir, Brother West: Living and Loving Out Loud.
His most recent book, Black Prophetic Fire, offers an unflinching look at 19th and 20th century African-American leaders and their visionary legacies.
West is also frequent guest on the Bill Maher Show, CNN, C-Span, and Democracy Now. He has also appeared in over 25 documentaries and films including The Matrix, Examined Life, Call & Response, Sidewalk, and Stand.
