Council to address changes to charter

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – The Greenville City Council intends this week to explore proposed changes to the city's charter.

The council is scheduled to look at all 13 proposed amendments offered by the Citizen's Charter Review Committee during a special workshop Thursday.

The changes include everything from correcting a list of typographical errors in the existing charter to giving the mayor a seat on the Greenville Electric Utility System Board of Trustees. T

he council will decide which of the proposed changes will appeal on the May 8 ballot when it meets next week.

The Commerce City Council has already approved nearly a dozen changes to its charter to go before voters this spring.
