Council to address curfew, sidewalk plan

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – The Commerce City Council is scheduled Tuesday to discuss and possibly approve a second reading amending the city's curfew ordinance.

The revision, as recommended by Commerce ISD Resource Officer Joe Venable, would include daytime hours to reduce truancy, plus keep students sent home for disciplinary reason from wandering the streets. Curfew hours would run from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday when school is in session.

The council is also scheduled to proceed with the acquisitions of easements for its Highway 11 utility relocation project, plus consider authorization toward a grant application for a sidewalk plan to assist students of the new A.C. Williams Elementary School.

Tuesday's meeting begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall, located at 1119 Alamo.
