Council denies petition to remove City Attorney

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Voters in Greenville will not decide the contract of City Attorney Brent A. Money, as the City Council votes not to accept a petition calling for an election to consider his removal.

At least 300 registered voters who opposed the filing of a re-plat of Majors Field Municipal Airport had signed the petition.

Monday was the final day the Council could add the election item to the May 14 ballot, but legal expert Barney Knight told officials the petition was not valid. He said the document did not involve an initiative concerning a legislative action by the Council, but rather an administrative action.
