Greenville – The Greenville City Council is looking to stop collecting impact fees; one of the tools used to pay for local economic development.
Some council members Tuesday voiced their support of a moratorium on the fees, amid concerns that with the current state of the economy the fees hurt rather than assist development.
Others were not entirely sure a break from collecting the fees was needed, as the fees are designed to lessen the need for taxes in paying for infrastructure.
The Council is currently scheduled to take a final vote on the issue during the March 9 meeting.
