Council looking to improve quality of city’s housing

GREENVILLE - Greenville city officials intend to take the first steps toward establishing a residential inspection program.

The council will consider creating the Residential Inspection Program Task Force when it meets Tuesday night. The group would be instructed to develop an ordinance for approval by this spring.

In October, the council directed city staff to move forward with a housing preservation initiative and developing of a draft ordinance in an attempt to maintain and improve the quality of the city’s housing.

A draft ordinance is expected to be presented to the council in March.
