Counties begin to lift burn bans

GRAYSON COUNTY - As area counties and cities are upgrading water conservation measures, other entities are showing signs that perhaps recent rains have made an impact.

Grayson County Commissioners on Tuesday voted to allow their ban on outdoor burning to expire, effective today. The move comes three months after officials first enacted the restriction, and brings hope that drought conditions are improving locally.

Also this week, Van Zandt and Anderson County Commissioners voted to lift their burn bans.

Still, several Northeast Texas counties remain in the higher stages of the Keetch-Byram Drought Severity Index.
